Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Psychotherapy Treatment
Psychotherapy, often called talk therapy, is a safe, confidential space where individuals, couples, or families work with a trained therapist to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It helps people understand themselves better, resolve issues, and develop healthier coping strategies.
Psychotherapy is for anyone facing emotional difficulties, mental health challenges, or relationship problems. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Therapy can support:
- Adults dealing with stress, depression, or anxiety
- Teenagers navigating life transitions
- Couples facing relationship conflict
- Families working through communication issues
- Individuals seeking personal growth and self-awareness
We support clients with a range of concerns, including:
- Anxiety and panic disorders
- Depression and mood swings
- Trauma and PTSD
- Grief and loss
- Low self-esteem and identity issues
- Stress and burnout
- Relationship and family problems
- Behavioral or emotional challenges in children and adolescents
The duration varies depending on your goals and the nature of your challenges. Some people benefit from short-term therapy (6–12 sessions), while others engage in longer-term work. We’ll discuss this together during your first session and revisit it as needed.
Sessions typically last 50 minutes. You’ll talk openly with your therapist about your experiences, thoughts, and feelings. The therapist will listen without judgment, provide insights, and help guide you toward practical tools and emotional healing.
Yes. Your privacy is our priority. All therapy sessions are confidential, in accordance with professional ethics and legal requirements. The only exceptions involve situations where there is risk of serious harm or legal obligations (e.g., abuse reporting).
No referral is needed. You can contact us directly to book an appointment. If you’re using insurance or an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), check whether a referral is required for reimbursement.
